Another strength of Irene Van Dyk is she is very strong. Moving from South Africa to New Zealand was a big deal for Irene. She was leaving her home, her heritage and her Mum. Irene moved because of the insecurity in South Africa. And when Irene's Mum came to visit Irene in New Zealand. She told Irene it was a good decision. To be a Netball player you have to train hard stick to your eating orders. And have a strong routine to make sure you are playing at your best standard. Netball is a tough, rough sport (even if there is a no contact rule). She is also very strong since she moved to New Zealand her and her husband went through hard times with his disabilities and they accidentally were polluting the some of the area around the Manawatu Gorge. Through all of this, Irene is still a strong woman who is capable of many things.
The last strength that I think Irene has that is very strong is how she is so resourceful. Like on the netball court she is always ready to get the pass or to defend it. Irene is like that in real life. She is the person to go to. You see this when she is on the netball court being the captain of the Netball Ferns. You can always expect her to bring her A game. In any situation. After her netball years she is still active helping the Netball community over New Zealand find there new Irene Van Dyk. And a good face for Gilbert. and if you haven't heard her great boxing results.
Overall Irene is a real hero. She is the inspiration to many and is a friendly real person. I choose Irene because of her amazing qualities competitiveness, strength and resourcefulness. Also her leadership. Irene was an amazing person to have on the Silver Ferns and with her being captain led New Zealand in an amazing decade of Netball. Irene has inspired me to be in the Silver Ferns when I am older. And that doesn't matter who you are it's what you do. That makes me want to push myself to my best. And that is why I think she is a hero.
