Ipman

               My Hero-Ipman

                 By: Anthony Huynh

After Japan invaded China the Chinese have been defenseless, until  Ipman took a stand. I chose Ipman for my hero because he is a savior to my people. Ipman had  taught many people the arts of Wing-chun (a southern Chinese style of Kung-fu.) In the early nineteen hundreds, Ipman saved many Chinese citizens.

Ipman was born on the second of October, in 1893. Ipman died from throat cancer on the first of December in 1972. Ipman was 79 years old when he passed away. Before Ipman's death he successfully performed the forms of wing-chun in front of a video camera.

I am sure that almost everybody knows Bruce Lee right? Well, what some people don't know is that Ipman is Bruce Lee's sifu (martial arts teacher.) Ipman loved to teach Wing-chun so much that he moved all over China just to teach it to people who wants to learn. Ipman met Bruce Lee at the Wong Le Avenue. Bruce Lee was only 12 at the time and he had practice wing-chun until 2009 (sadly) Bruce Lee died in 2009.

After a couple of years Ipman met his wife (anonymous). They later got married and had 4 kids, 2 of them (Ip-chun and Ip-wang) grew up to be Wing-chun sifus just like their father, Ipman. When Ipman passed away, all of his students came and brought their families. "His death was a tragedy." one said.

In 1937, Japan invaded China and China was controlled by Japan. The Japanese soldiers tortured and killed many Chinese civilians. Ipman got tired of this nonsense and he gathered his students and attacked the Japanese headquarters. A lot of people died in this attack but we had victory. In the end Ipman challenged the Japanese general to a dual. Karate VS. Wing-chun, Ipman won the battle and  the general died  so without a leader the Japanese soldiers retreated to their boats and went back to Japan.

"Ipman was a guardian sent by the gods."  The whole country of China is thankful for Ipman's heroic deeds. Ipman, a father, a legend, a myth, a Wing-chun sifu, and a HERO.    @(^.^)@
