Joe with The Iraq Kids He Met (Amy Irwin) |
Do you have a hero, somebody that you look up to? Well I do. He’s my brother and his name is Sgt Joseph G Irwin. He is a Military Working Dog Handler, and he is currently deployed to Iraq. He is my hero for many different reasons.
His name is Joe Irwin. He’s married, lives in Georgia and he’s twenty-four years old. My brother is my hero because he never puts himself first, when it comes to his work, and his safety always comes last. Even though he’s in Iraq he’s protecting people everywhere from terrorists.
My brother Joe is in Iraq. He is a military dog handler. What he does is he gets assigned to dogs and he trains them for however long it takes for it to be shipped to Iraq. He trains them to search bombs, drugs, people and other stuff he needs for when he’s there. When he takes the dogs to Iraq, he takes them to search for bombs so he can get rid of them so no one gets hurt. That’s what he’s been doing for the past two months, and hopefully they’ll send him back before the full year.
He is a hero for all times. What he does today will protect our tomorrow. He has faith, courage, hope, adaptability, and moral direction; all things a real hero should have. He has faith in God, himself, and other soldiers. He has courage for when he’s scared, and worried he has enough courage to get through what he needs to. He has hope in his work for a better tomorrow, hope in people, and hope that things will get better. He has adaptability from being shipped off to Iraq, taken out of all familiar situations and put into something completely new to him. My brother Joe has moral direction because he believes and puts his life into God’s hands, and always tries to do what’s right.
He has all the qualities I think a hero should have. Faith, courage, hope, adaptability, and moral direction. This makes a good hero and this is why my brother is my hero and why I look up to him.
