Jim Carrey is an amazing actor; his full name is James Eugene Carry. He was born on January 17, 1962 in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada. He was the youngest of four children. Jim loved to perform for other people; he even mailed his resume to The Carol Burnett Show at age ten. In junior high he was allowed a few minutes after class to perform for his classmates just as long as he kept quiet during the rest of the day.

In the early days of his teenage years the family was forced to relocate from their cozy town of Newmarket to Scarborough, a suburb in Toronto. The family took security and janitorial jobs at Tighten Wheels Factory. Jim was working 8-hour shifts after school finished each day. When the family finally left the factory and moved to Toronto, they lived in a trailer until the family could afford to move back to Newmarket.

When Jim finally started working he went to a comedy club named Yuk-Yuk’s, where he was criticized by almost everyone there. After a shaky start, he began performing in lots of local comedy clubs, and eventually dropped out of high school to work on his celebrity impersonations. Some of the celebrities he could impersonate were Michael Landon and James Stewart. In 1979, he finally moved to Los Angeles where he became a regular performer at The Comedy Store.

Jim Carrey got married to a waitress at the Comedy Store named Melissa Wormer, and had a daughter with her named Jane. He eventually got divorced from Melissa and later married the actress Lauren Holly. After a few years at the Comedy Club he became a TV actor, and his most famous TV role was in ‘In Living Color’ in 1990, where TV watchdogs criticized his character for some of the dangerous stunts he performed. In 1994 he made his name as a film actor by staring in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, which was followed in 1995 by Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls. In 1998 he had his most famous part playing a naïve salesman who discovers his entire life is the subject of a TV show in ‘The Truman Show’. This won him a Golden Globe, but not an Oscar nomination, which he was not very happy about. In 1999, he won another Golden Globe for ‘Man on the Moon.’ Recently, he has been starring in children’s films including; ‘How the Grinch stole Christmas’, and ‘A Series of Unfortunate Events.‘
