J.R.R. Tolkien is a hero because he wrote two very popular books. The books are The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings. Also he survived being an orphan. He also was a great teacher and he won awards for it.
When he was about a month old he, his brother and his mother moved to England from South Africa. While they were there they received at letter from England. Arthur had suffered and died of a hemorrhage, an outpouring of the blood. It can happen inside or outside the body.
When he was 11 years his mother got diabetes. Scientists later found a way to manage diabetes, but that was too late for his mother. She later fell into a coma and died. Ronald and his brother became orphans.
Ronald had many hardships in his lifetime, including poverty. He never went to school when he was a child, and his mother and father died. Those were hardships when he was a child. When he was an adult he was climbing the Swiss Alps and he fell. He had a near death experience. When he was a writer he broke his hand. He said that it was the worst three weeks of his life.
Ronald gave many contributions. Some of them are: When he was going to college at Oxford he was chosen to help write a dictionary, also he wrote award winning books, and he fought in World War One. He once wrote, "All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost."
He also said, "There is nothing like looking, if you want to find something. You certainly usually find something, if you look, but it is not always quite the something you were after.” Another thing he said was “It is the job that is never started that takes longest to finish.” In addition he said: "The wise speak only of what they know.” Lastly he said: “I don't know half of you half as well as should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.”
J.R.R. Tolkien was a man of many traits. Three of them are caring, smart, and he was mentally strong. He showed that he was caring because he takes care of his brother, he falls in love with a girl named Edith. She was already engaged. Finally he showed his caringness to the world by fighting in World War One. He shows that he is smart because he was accepted to Oxford University, one of the World’s best Universities.
