My Hero is Jose Rizal. Jose Rizal lived at Calamba, Laguna, Philippines. Jose Rizal was born in June 19, 1861 and died in December 30, 1896. He is my hero because he kind of saved us from Spanish rule.

In Rizal’s childhood, he was tutored by his mom who taught him the 3 R’s. At age 3 he already kneow the alphabet. He could already read the Vulgate Bible. When he was 8, he wrote a play in Tagalog and it was presented at their town festival.

Jose Rizal is important because without him, Philippines could still be under Spanish rule. Jose Rizal was the 7th child of 11 children. He first went to Ateneo Municipal de Manila then he traveled to Madrid, Spain, by himself. There, he studied medicine at the Universidad Central de Madrid. And that’s how he got a degree of Licentiate in Medicine. He earned a second doctorate at the University of Paris and the University of Heidelberg.
