"Snoring keeps the monsters away,” said Judy Blume. Judy Blume is an inspiring and humorous author. I studied about Judy Blume in the article, “Biography Today”. She lived in Elizabeth, New Jersey during her youth with an exception of two years whenever she lived in Miami Beach, Florida. She likes movies, radio shows, and books, and began taking dance lessons at the age of 3.
Judy was born on February 12, 1938, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, to Rudolph and Esther Sussman. Esther Sussman, her mother, was a homemaker who was quiet and shy and loved to read. Rudolph Sussman, her father, was a dentist with an outgoing personality. She had a brother named David. Her favorite book as a child was Madeline by Ludwig Bemelmans; she loved it so much she hid it in her kitchen toy drawer so her mother wouldn’t be able to return it to the library. She knew it was wrong to hide the book but she said there was no way she was going to part with Madeline.

Double Fudge By Judy Blume (www.njyac.org) |
Judy first attended public school in Elizabeth, New Jersey. When she was in the third grade, her brother became ill with a kidney infection. She moved with him and her brother to Miami Beach, where they hoped the warm climate would help David's health. Judy and David went to school there and later returned to New Jersey. She graduated with honors from Battin High School. She then enrolled at Boston University and earned her bachelor’s degree in childhood education in 1960.
Judy has published over 17 books that describe the experiences of young people and adolescents. She was an author of honest novels based on her own memories of childhood and adolescence. Her works have been criticized by some adults because of their vulgar language, mature themes, and straightforward treatment of sexuality. Many of her books have been censored by schools and libraries. Yet many other readers, both young and adult, appreciate her realistic, often humorous and sympathetic treatment of important issues
She is most famous for all of the books she has written. Judy Blume today still inspires children and adults with her many books. Judy Sussman, now Judy Blume, was born to be an author.
