Jorge Campos

by Alexis from Farmersville

When you hear the word hero you think of superman, batman, spider man etc. to me the word hero doesn't mean being rich or famous. It means working hard to help others. Jorge Campos is just that. Jorge Campos didn't have much growing up, but with hard work and determination he got to where he is now.

Jorge Campos is my hero for his hard work and determination. Jorge Campos was born October 15th, 1966, in a small ranch. Jorge was one of eight kids. Growing up he always liked soccer and like any kid he wanted to become pro in his life. Jorge always wanted to be a forward, but his family knew he had a talent for goalkeeper. Now he is known as one of Mexico's best goalkeepers.

Jorge started playing pro at the age of 15. He signed with U.N.A.M in the Mexican league. when he signed there was already a goalkeeper so he decided to be striker at that time. On his first season he scored 14 goals with Pumas. That was only the beginning of his long career. He was later transferred to other teams including Cruz Azul and Atlante.

As the years passed, Jorge Campos won championships with Pumas and Cruz Azul. He later met his goal as a kid to play for the Mexican national team. He was one of Mexico's best goalkeepers. He also was unique for the style of colors he wore. He already met all of his goals, but the next he set was for him to coach the Mexican national team. After he retired he did just that. He became assistant coach for El Tri.

I chose Jorge Campos, because he worked hard to get where he is. He is a generous and helpful person. He also created a school for kids and the sport soccer. The school helped kids with being more active and to try the sport, but he didn't let the sport get in the way of school. He always said "First is school and then the game."
