Joseph Granata

by Tyler from Selden

Joseph Granata is my cousin. He is 18 years old and in Naval Academy Prepetorial School (NAPS). He got a full scholarship because of his talent for lacrosse. Over his years his passions are lacrosse and football. In his high school years he played football for Lindenhurst High School and middle school. He is my hero because he has taught me everything I know about girls, football, lacrosse, hockey, and wresting. He is also my hero because he’s there for me whenever I’m stuck on something and need help.

He has so many talents I lost count. One of his main goals is to fly the blue jets (aka) Blue Angels, over the Super Bowl field during the Nation Anthem. To be able to accomplish that dream he has to serve 7-10 years in the military and get outstanding grades. I believe in my cousin's skills to do great and accomplish his goals. When I grow up I’m going to be just the same as he is. Over the years of my life it has felt like he’s been there for me even when he wasn’t. I can always count on him and if I ever needed anybody I would call him.

He is my role model, my hero, my life. He has been in the military for 8 months. He said he can take apart his gun and put it back together in 30 seconds. Joseph has inspired me throughout my life. I want to go to the Navy just like he is now. When they all relax after the day, they play x box 360 and play Call of Duty 5 and Gears of War.

They get up at 5 in the morning. They go straight to lacrosse practice pretty much for the whole day. When he was in the (NAPS) he would wake up and go to training camp (boot camp). When he is on a cell phone he must stop wherever he is and talk, he cannot walk and talk on the phone. Also, when he is at the cafeteria he must sit up straight and eat a certain way. The teachers of the NAPS have taught him so well. When he wakes up he must make his bed a certain way too.

The Naval Academy that he is attending is in Newport, Rhode Island. My family and I and also my aunt, uncle, and cousin go up there just to stay the night and watch his lacrosse games. He has gotten so much more in shape than he was, not that he was out of shape before or they would have never recruited him - ha. The game that I really want to go to is the Navy vs. Army game. I have missed him so much and love him so that this is why I picked him to be my hero.
