My hero saves the lives of animals every day. He will do anything to save an animal’s life; Dr. Herr even has to deal with his own pets every day. This is his story.

My hero is Dr. Jeffery Herr. He is the only veterinarian at the Holt Road Pet Hospital. He was assigned to the pet hospital in 2005. He just got out of veterinarian school 12 years ago and he’s 43 years old! He said, “Being a vet is not as easy as it looks. I went to college for 5 years and spent 10 years in vet school”.

Dr. Jeffery Herr Lives in Zionsville, Indiana. He loves sports, including football and golf. I asked him if he consider himself to be a hero? He said, “No, I don’t consider myself a hero.” Even though he was voted by his fellow veterinarians’ as one of the top 5 veterinarians in Indiana!

My hero has done major surgeries. He said, ”I have done two major surgeries - one on a dog choking on a stocking and another one was a cat choking on batteries that went down into the intestines and I had to get it out”. When I asked Dr. Herr who his hero was, he said his wife is very important to him. He even said, “My hero must be my wife because she’s been through tough times with me”.

I chose this hero because he is an animal person. Animals are the one thing I love most, after my family. As you can see, my hero is an outstanding person who helps animals each day to feel better. Thank you for reading my story about Dr. Herr.
