The first action/heroic event to me that i am going to focus on is the train accident because that was the most drastic. He was on the train basically and they saw another train in coming up the tracks. He was going to try and change the path of the train at the intersection but could not do it soon enough. The train was coming closer and closer and he was trying to pull the whistle while pulling the brake. He told his co engineer worker to save himself. He did. The trains crashed but he had slowed down enough to save almost all of the train except for the engineer’s station that he was the only one in at the time. Everyone else on the train was saved and probably all because of him. After he died and they were cleaning up the body and train, they found one of his hands on the air break and the other on the whistle.

The other heroic event that he did was saved a little girl from getting hit by the train tracks. She was standing in the middle of the tracks and would not move. He yelled as loud as he could telling her to move. He blew the whistle many times but she still did not move. He ran to the front of the train and reached out as far as he could and grabbed her before the train could hit her. This makes him a hero because he really is a lifesaver to me. And one day i really hope that i could be as brave and heroic as he was.

My hero benefits people who are alive today because it shows the love someone had. Also it shows what a true hero is. He gives his family a good name and people who were on the train when he saved them can tell their children who will tell their children about how a young man named John Luther Casey Jones saved their ancestor's life and without them they wouldn’t be here today.

I think that if John Luther was still alive and could give advice to the youth, it would be about courage, strength, and selflessness. About how in a situation think about not you and what might happen but about what could happen to other people and how their lives and family would be affected. Also to think before you act.
