"My fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country." This quote is what America should be and will soon be what everyone base their lives around. John F. Kennedy said this quote during his inauguration to tell the citizens to make a difference to America. John Fitzgerald "Jack" Kennedy, commonly referred to by his initials JFK, was an American politician who served as the 35th President of the United States from January 1961, he has accomplished a lot of achievements that improved America until his assassination in November 1963. John F. Kennedy was a hero by how he shows leadership, bravery, and was inspirational to everyone in America that he is the greatest president.

JFK was a hero to everyone in America, he shows this by expressing one of his traits, leadership, in his work and during his presidency. One of his accomplishments that shows leadership was that he stopped the Soviets from sending nuclear missiles to Cuba which during his time was called the Cuban Missile Crisis, "Instead, the Russians now sought to install nuclear missiles in Cuba. When this was discovered by air reconnaissance in October 1962, Kennedy imposed a quarantine on all offensive weapons bound for Cuba. While the world trembled on the brink of nuclear war, the Russians backed down and agreed to take the missiles away. The American response to the Cuban crisis evidently persuaded Moscow of the futility of nuclear blackmail." This was one example that he showed leadership, stopping the Soviets was a greatest achievement he got. Even tho he was a young president, he lead America to a peaceful agreement and stopped the war with the Soviet Union. Another accomplishment that shows leadership was when he created the Peace Corps. that helps third world countries develop a little bit more."By an executive order in 1961, President Kennedy created the Peace Corps, a reaction to the growing spirit of activism evident throughout the Western world. Through social and humanitarian services, Peace Corps volunteers sought to improve the social and economic conditions throughout the world." This was another example that he showed leadership by creating a group to help third world countries develop more and to have fresh water. This is a also a nice act and an inspirational act not just leadership this act inspires people to also help third world countries. JFK showed leadership in his amazing accomplishments that help protect and project that he is a great hero that people can be inspired and to learn from to improve other peoples daily lives not just the in his time but also present time. His actions made America what America is now a great nation.

JFK's other trait is bravery and he shows this very well during his times on the military navy. His first act of bravery is when he saved his crew on a PT boat when a Japanese destroyer sunk their boat. He saved them all before they all drown. "Jack joined the U.S. Navy in 1941 and two years later was sent to the South Pacific, where he was given command of a Patrol-Torpedo (PT) boat. In August 1943, a Japanese destroyer struck the craft, PT-109, in the Solomon Islands. Kennedy helped some of his marooned crew back to safety, and was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal for heroism." This shows that JFK will save his crew even though a Japanese destroyer has sunk their patrol boat. This was a great example to show that he is brave and will do anything to get his point across not being scared of anyone. Another example that shows his bravery, was the again of the Cuban Missile Crisis when the Soviets try to threaten JFK and America. JFK did not care about their threats and will fight them. "After several days of action and reaction, each seeming to bring the world closer to the brink of nuclear war, the two sides reached a deal. Khrushchev would order the withdrawal of offensive missiles and Kennedy would promise not to invade Cuba;Kennedy also promised to withdraw American ballistic nuclear missiles based in Turkey targeting the Soviet Union. Difficult negotiations aimed at finalizing the deal dragged on for several weeks but, on November 20, 1962, Kennedy finally ordered the lifting of the naval blockade of Cuba." This shows his bravery by how he will fight with the Soviets and will not stop until they leave Cuba with their Missiles. He is not even scared of the Soviets when they threaten for a Nuclear War; he just went on and blocked their way to Cuba. JFK is a here by his bravery in the navy and his presidency for stopping the Soviets from putting Nuclear weapons in Cuba. He helped us live another day and have a peace treaty with the Soviets now.

JFK's last trait, and also what every hero has, is inspiration by how he inspired a lot of people. This first example is his Inaugural Address when he inspired the nation to help the nation improve and prosper. "His Inaugural Address offered the memorable injunction: 'Ask not what your country can do for you--ask what you can do for your country.'" This shows that JFK wants us to to do good for America and not ask the government to do everything for us. This inspired us to shape America without the government's help, people started changing America to what it is now today: a great nation that will stand firm. He inspired America to have no segregation and to be equal to one another which made people change their ways. He allowed Martin Luther King to say his speech. "President Kennedy proposed a civil rights bill that would give black Americans the same basic rights that other Americans enjoyed. He stated that "race has no place in American life or law." Many people respected Kennedy for his stand on civil rights, but in many parts of the country - mostly in the South - Kennedy began to lose public support." This accomplishment shows that he inspired America to not segregate people and to have equal rights for everyone. This also made John F. Kennedy the president that desegregated everyone and to have equal rights for all which will inspire others in the future to be like him. This fully shows that JFK is a very inspirational person by his Inauguration speech and the Civil Rights bill that made America a country without segregation in their country. At the end his actions made his the greatest American President and a hero.

My three criteria, leadership, bravery and inspiration, is what makes a JFK a hero. He shows leadership by stopping the threat of the Soviets during the Cuban Missile Crisis, bravery by helping his crew after they got sunk by a Japanese battleship, and inspirational by saying we should help out county get better and not let the government do all the work. The people should do the work because it's a democracy. John F. Kennedy is a hero by greatness. He has shown through leadership, bravery, and is an inspiration in his work.
