John F. Kennedy

by Joey from California

John Fitzgerald Kennedy is known as one of the best and most accomplished President. Best known for his part in World War II, his presidency and mostly his assassination. JFK is best known for many good and bad reasons. During his presidency he was 46 and lived in the White House from 1961 to 1963 when he died. When he was not in meeting or traveling he would be with his family and pets. He was the President during one of America's most stressful time, the Cold War. John F. Kennedy possesses the qualities of a hero because he helped those in need in WWII and went on to lead America  with intelligence and courage .

John Fitzgerald Kennedy, as a President and leader of the most important country in the world, has to be not only brave but highly intelligent. A good President is one who is intelligent enough to push the country to be better, to grow scientifically, and accomplish what they had not yet. "We stand today on the edge of a new frontier," Kennedy said in accepting the nomination. "... The times demand invention, innovation, imagination, decision." ("John Fitzgerald Kennedy") JFK saw the importance of developing scientifically and emotionally as a country, something that we had fallen behind on with comparison to the Soviet Union. To get the country moving, they would have to stand up and work together, JFK made sure to unite the country with a single purpose, to grow. Since the Cold War had begun, the Russians and the Americans were both in tight tension with each other over the possibility of using nuclear bombs against the other. Kennedy's greatest hope was to stop the arms race. General and complete disarmament, he had told the United Nations in September 1961, was "a practical matter of life and death." ("John Fitzgerald Kennedy"). Kennedy wanted to stop World War from happening, and make decisions that would help the country move away from becoming involved in that conflict, which could lead to destroying everything.Kennedy hoped to put America out of danger from a Russian attack, the arms race and Cold War was stopping peace and probably leading us to a destructive war. John F. Kennedy used intelligence to help stop war between two of the most powerful nations in the world, this shows his qualities as a hero.

During world war two John saved his men by showing bravery. During the war JFK was traveling on a boat when an enemy boat hit his and cut it in two then thrown all eleven of his crew to the water.  Kennedy towed injured crew member McMahon 4 miles to a small island to the southeast.(JOHN F. KENNEDY PRESIDENTIAL LIBRARY AND MUSEUM) After spending 15 hours in the water they finally reached a small island. The spent 4 days there and wrote a message on a coconut that was brought to an Australian base by islanders. They were rescued soon after. For JFK, bravery was shown in different ways, not only his actions but his inspiring speeches about National pride. "Without belittling the courage with which men have died, we should not forget those acts of courage with which men have lived."(JFK) JFK was talking about how the men America lost, whose names are not known who did great acts towards the wars in the past and future. There were many brave people who have lost their lives to this country fighting for freedom who we don't even know about. JFK is wanting us to remember them and say thanks. We remember JFK as a brave and intelligent president for making inspiring quotes and acts for America.

John F. Kennedy used his qualities as a leader to help lead America to where it is today using his intelligence and courage to become an inspiration to millions. JFK was a brave man during world war two. Using his good qualities he saved his crew then went on to be president of the United States. He led the country during the Cold War and avoided nuclear disaster by encouraging scientific, economical and technological development. John F. Kennedy is inspiring to me because he saved his men during WWII, prevented war during his presidency and went on to become one of the most well known presidents. He inspires other people by encouraging bravery and courage. If John F. Kennedy was still alive, he would go on to help the United states overall to become more powerful. A president like JFK needs to have intelligence and courage to accomplish what he needs to do for the country and bring it from under its financial and emotional depression.
