Jonah Lomu

by Junior from Dax

I'm going to talk about my favorite hero who is Jonah Lomu, who is a New-Zealander rugby player. He was born on May 12th 1975 in Auckland. He spent his childhood in the south area of Auckland and he studied in Wesley College (Auckland).

He played rugby at XIII at 14 years old before going to Wesley College. Chris Grinterce allowed him to debut in the rugby XV. He joined Counties Manukau where he was selected to play for the New Zealand team aged under 17 in 1991, then for the New Zealand team school in 1992. In March 1994 he disputed the tournament of Hong Kong for the rugby VII. He became the most young player All Blacks at 19 years old and 45 days. He was selected for the first time the 26 June 1994. Jonah Lomu was married to South African Tanya Rutter in 1996. They were respectively 20 and 19 years old but they divorced in 2000. In May 2003, the federation of New Zealand announced to Jonah Lomu that he had to do session dialysis for the problem of his kidneys so he had to stop rugby.

For me he is a hero because he is a rugby legend, he marked 7 tries for his first rugby World Cup in 1995 and 8 tries for the Rugby World Cup in 1999.

Jonah Lomu is important for me because I play rugby so for me he is a role model. He is example because he won his cancer.
