San Martin was born in Yapeyu, Argentina. When he was a teenager, he went to Spain to study. He joined the Spanish Army. He returned to Argentina and he decided to fight against the Spanish to get our country's independence. He won San Lorenzo's battle and he decided to help Chile. He crossed the Andes and fought and lost in Cancha Rayada. But he succeeded in Maipu. After that he went to Peru to help in its independence. He married Remedios Escalada. Mercedes was his daughter. He decided to abandon the nation. He lived for many years in France where he died.

San Martin is my favourite hero because he was very helpful and a great patriot. I think he is a hero because he gave independence to Argentina, Chile and Peru, and with that he changed the history.
