My hero is Jennifer Martinelli. She is 28 years old and my big sister. She is my hero because she is creative. When we needed her to make something amazingly creative like a magazine she would do it. She helps out with cooking and babysitting me. Jennifer puts me before herself because one time when I was playing baseball with the family I was about to get hit with the ball but then she threw herself in front of me. She got hit so I would not.
Jennifer always made me smile and makes me feel good. Whenever she saw me sad she would come and ask what’s the matter? I would always say nothing until she forced me to talk. And then she would make me smile by doing things like… making her husband Matthew give me a piggy back ride and ride him like a horse around the living room carpet. I love when he does that. She makes me feel good always.
Jennifer never ever gives up and always helps others. Our parents always trusted her to do important things that were hard and she never gave up. My dad made her help my Grandma with her bills she never gave up. The reason why she helped my Grandma was because my Grandma could not write out the bills by herself. My sister assisted her by writing out all of her bills. Jennifer just doesn’t not give up and likes to help others. When I need help with my homework, I get her annoyed sometimes but she doesn’t give up and she always helps me. She protects me every day by making sure I am all right like calling me before bed. And she comes over for dinner during the weekend.
Jennifer encourages me to get straight A’s all the time and if I don’t she is still happy if I tried. She went to college and graduated so she wants me to study hard to get that far too. She always makes sure I’m studying hard and paying attention in school. Out of nowhere she will say, "What’s 9x6= ?" I learned that fact from her. (The answer is 54.) She lets me call her when I need help studying with math. But the best thing is she never gives me the answers. I love that because that makes me get that fact in my brain always. She is kind of like a tutor but even better, she is my sister. She always asks if I’m doing well in school. And she checks my report card with our parents when she can.
Jennifer gives me a fine example of good behavior just like my mom and dad. She always teaches me how to put a table cloth on the kitchen table. She also teaches me how to fold napkins (you fold napkins by putting one corner in the middle and the other corner on the other middle and then it should have a point on top and a slot for the forks and such) and how to set the table with plates, forks, knives. The table cloth always has a turkey because in Portugal it’s called a galo and we put that as the table cloth. Whenever I do set my table mom is so proud of my sister for teaching me and me for learning from her. She also taught me how to do laundry of my own. She teaches me all good things to be a good kid and a good adult when I am grown up.
Jennifer is always helping people and she gives to charities every month. At Christmas time she buys gifts for kids. Last year she gave lots and lots of toys and clothes and other things. She comes over for Christmas and we celebrate giving to other kids and we celebrate family. We do that by putting up the tree with the family while drinking hot coco and eating fresh popcorn. We always get red, white, and blue ornaments and we hang them up one by one with the family (which takes a long time but good family moments). My sister is the best sister in the whole world and my hero.
