My hero is my dad. My first reason is he is a trustworthy person. Second, he is willing to sacrifice. Third, he tries his best. Fourth, he is determined. My last is he is a generous man.

First, he is trustworthy. He quotes “I hate liars, I hate them, I hate those kinds of people” unquote. So you can trust him to tell you the truth. He will tell you the truth about whatever you show him.

He is willing to sacrifice. He will sacrifice his time to help me. For an example, if I need help with my homework. He will help me, but will not give me the answer. He will make me find the answer by myself. If I get it wrong he will solve it with me.

He will try his best. He will try his best to keep his kids happy and to repair all the broken things in our house. He went to Menard's to buy things for our pool, things for the lawn, things for the house, and things to repair the house.

He is determined to save us money and is determined to makes us happy all the time. He tries to save us money by ordering out less, less lights on in our house, and to buy little less food. He try his best to keep us happy by letting us have ice cream, letting us watch as much TV as we want, and letting us play outside till 7:00.

Lastly, he is generous. My dad will buy us gum, candy, movies, pizza, and he will cook on the grill for us. He will let us have whatever we what on the grill and have whatever we want on it. Lets us watch his movies, anything on TV, lets us watch anything on TV whenever we want as long as it is safe. When he has gum he will give us a piece after we eat dinner. He will buy us candy to eat after dinner or after lunch. He will order movies for us or for him to watch whenever. On days my mom works at her second job, he will buy us pizza to eat and we get to pick our own topping. We get to pick whatever we want to eat on the grill and we get to pick what we want on it. He will let us watch his movies as long as we return them to him undamaged. We can watch what we want to watch on tv and get to watch tv whenever and as long as we want to. He will let us do anything as long as it is safe.

In conclusion my dad is my hero because he is trustworthy, he is willing to sacrifice, he tries his best, he is determined, and he is generous. I hope you see why he is my hero and that I love him.

My Hero Poem

JUMPING FOR JOY WHEN HE SEES HIS KIDS IN THE MORNING.
ALWAYS FINDING TIME TO BE WITH HIS KIDS.
MAKING HIS KIDS FEEL HAPPY.
EVERYBODY ASKS FOR HIS HELP AND HE WILL DO IT FOR THEM.
SEES THE TRUTH IN HIS KIDS & WILL KNOW IF WE ARE NOT TELLING THE TRUTH.
MAKING EVERYTHING BETTER IN OUR HOUSE.
COUNTS ON HIS KIDS TO HELP HIM OUT.
HE MAKES DINNER WHEN MY MOM WORKS LATE.
UNDERGROUND HE RELAXES.
GETTING UP TO GET ME SOMETHING.
HUGGING ME WHEN I FEEL DOWN.

Extra Info

My hero is my dad. He was born December 28 on the south side of Chicago at Little Company of Mary Hospital (LCMH). His parents Josephine McHugh and her husband Thomas McHugh had named him James. He grew up with 3 sisters and 2 brothers. He is the youngest of them all, but he was going to have a little brother after him. They named him Joseph, but he passed away right when he was born. So he is still the youngest. His full name is James McHugh. He has no middle name. His older brother, Pat the first born is the only one with a middle name.

He grew up on 75th St. in Chicago. His house had red and yellow bricks. It faced a rail road track. There was a prairie field where his friends, brothers and he would play hockey in the winter. He did not like to read comics that much, but he liked to read a comic called “Family Circus”. He also grew up with a black cocker spaniel named Ernie. When my dad was 6 his 1st sister, Sue, got Ernie as a puppy for a present from her boyfriend who is now her husband. Ernie always made my dad happy when he was sad. They used to put hats on him on certain holidays. With 6 kids in the house. My dad is in the middle, he has his good days and his bad days, but only 1 kid never got in trouble, his sister.

When he was 11 he was in the Chicago Sun times/Chicago Tribune for being one of the best traveling baseball teams in Chicago. When he was 18 he never attended college, but he wished he did go to college, because he worked at a printing company. The printing company was named “Kelvyn Press”. He ran many machines in the bindery dept of the printing company. At Kelvyn Press his boss was his own brother.

When his first kid was born on September 25, they named him James, and he was born on the same day as my dad’s mom. 3 years later on September he had a little girl and named her Caitlin. 7 years later on September 24 they had their last kid. She was named Allison. When Allison was 2 years old, he got married to a beautiful lady named Melissa on October 6.

My dad loves to cook on the grill and coach baseball if his son is on the team. He likes the color green. And likes to eat steak, pizza, and sea food. He likes to listen to rock music. His favorite band is Metallic. He has made mistakes in his life and has learned from them. In school he liked history/English. His favorite grade is 4th. My dad’s hero/heroes are people who do the right thing.

When he was 33, his dad passed away. He took it pretty hard, and he was crying in my shoulder, and crying at the funeral.

In conclusion my dad is my hero and his life was a pretty good one. He had some bad times and great times in his life and learned from them.
