“I have always been a person who tries to work hard and persevere when life gets to be less amusing than a walk in the park. I believe that hard work is the only way to succeed in life and, not to mention perseverance, which is also one of the essentials.” This is why I look up to Jamie Nguyen and see him as my hero. Jamie is a fashion designer/ Entrepreneur. What attracts me to his career the most is that when he goes to work he doesn’t feel like he is working, he feels like he is doing what he loves and he’s just having fun with it. Also I admire Jamie because when he built up his company IMKING he started out from nothing and he built that company from the ground up.

I want to be a entrepreneur because I love to be starting my own projects and I would like to be my own boss. Some job-related tasks in the fashion industry are costume designing, fashion buyer and fashion merchandising. To be a fashion designer you would probably want to major in arts, audio-video technology and communications majors. Jamie majored in business and arts. In the U.S. the average annual earnings are $71,400 that’s about $34. 33 an hour. Being a fashion designer/ entrepreneur allows you to be free to be who you are and also you can express yourself and shows the world in the cloths you designed.

Jamie and his best friend Andy, as little kids, always wanted to mess around with a clothing line and come up with new ideas. Jamie was always wearing cross colors and Air Jordan’s. Jamie and Andy worked really hard in the mortgage industry for a few years, and than they eventually had enough money and got a loan to buildup their company. Jamie attended Orange County College in 2002. He majored in marketing. Even though he only went to OCC for 2 years he still believed that he can achieve his goal to start up IMKING. And because he preserved that’s what made me look up to Jamie Nguyen.

Jamie and his company recently had a fundraiser to help Japan in their time of need. They gathered young people to join them to help raise money for those affected by the disaster in Japan in 2011 in March. This fundraiser was by Red Cross and IMKING sponsored them. IMKING helped by raising money by inviting musicians to play people for free and also they gave away some of their clothes to the less fortunate. Hopefully, when I’m older I can do good deeds like IMKING and maybe one day I can achieve greatness and success like him.

My goal is to persevere like Jamie. My plan is to do the best I can in high school by getting A’s and B’s and try my hardest to get into a great college to reach my goal. Because of Jamie I’m going to make my own Red Cross Club to help support Japan and organization that need help like what Jamie and IMKING did. In college I’m going to minor in fashion and hopefully receive and internship at IMKING. Even though I truly want to major in medicine Jamie has inspired me to never give up and get back up to keep moving forward. My lifetime goal to never give up and try everything I possibly can to make my dream come true. Also to live my life and to look back with no regrets.
