Jackie Robinson was a very inspiring person. He broke the color barrier in baseball and encouraged people to fight for their civil rights. Jackie Robinson's early life was tough. The grandson of a slave, Jack Roosevelt Robinson was the youngest of five children and spent his early years in Georgia. After his father deserted the family when Jackie was six months old, his mother, Mallie Robinson, moved the family to California in search of work. California also subjected blacks to segregation at that time, but to less of a degree than in the deep South. The young Jackie diffused his anger over this prejudice by immersing himself in sports.A hero must possess Courage and pride.  This means that they have to be able to have the courage to do the right thing no matter what and they have to be proud of what they are doing. Jackie Robinson possesses courage and pride, these two attributes make him a hero.
