Jackie Robinson

by Ryan

Introduction: Have people ever yelled at you and said you can`t do something because of your skin color? That is what happened to my hero Jackie Robinson. My hero is Jackie Robinson because he inspired me to play baseball and to try my hardest in baseball. He played baseball when people said he can`t play because of his color he did and he became an amazing baseball player. Here's some facts about my hero`s (Jackie Robinson) childhood story.

Childhood: He was born on January 31st, 1919 and he died on October 24th 1972. He was born at Cairo,Georgia. His mom's name is Mallie Robinson, his dad's name is Jerry Robinson. His three brothers names are Edgar Robinson, Mack Robinson and Frank Robinson. His sisters name is Willie Mae Robinson. His wife's name is Rachel Robinson and his kids names are Jackie Robinson JR, David Robinson and his only daughters name is Sharon Robinson. He went to school at Pasadena,California then he went to the University of California. Some things that got in his way to become a Major League baseball player.

Obstacles/Accomplishments: First they wouldn't let him play baseball because of his color but that didn't stop him. He kept trying and eventually became a professional baseball player. He was the first African American to play professional baseball. He played for the Dodgers when he got drafted and he played in 10 World Series with them. They would not let him play in the field a lot but on the bright side he started out as a first baseman. Then after he played first he played a second base. Now here`s some reasons of the hero traits I think he deserved.

Hero Traits: Jackie Robinson is a very persevering man to all of the African Americans that wanted to play baseball. Jackie Robinson is also a conviction man because he thought that Black People and African Americans are allowed to play baseball. Jackie Robinson is a very inspiring man because he fought for his rights which was that African Americans can play Major League Baseball.

Personal Connection: This is why I wanted to choose my hero Jackie Robinson. I wanted to choose Jackie Robinson because he plays baseball and I play baseball. He also was average for height and I`m average for height. Now here`s why we`re different. Jackie Robinson is an African American and I`m American. He is inspiring to me because he proved to everyone in the United States that African Americans and Black People can play Professional Baseball.
