Joanne Katherine Rowling

Joanne Katherine Rowling was born in 31 July 1965 and she is the British author of Harry Potter that is in my opinion the best book series I ever read. And she is a hero because she founded the Volant Charitable Trust, which uses its annual budget of £5.1 million to combat poverty and social inequality.

She also created a foundation for the monoparental families because she belonged to one, she was a single mother when she wrote Harry Potter and she knows how hard it is to raise a child on your own.

Rowling also contributed for the creation of a new Centre for Regenerative Medicine at Edinburgh University and in 2010 she donated a further £10 million to the centre because her mother died because of the multiple sclerosis so she supports everything that has something in common with the treatment of this illness.

She didn’t start her career being rich; she started in the lowest part of the society so she knows about that life and she always wants to help people who are in that situation.

Now I’m going to talk about why she is my heroine. All the history starts when she thought about Harry Potter for the first time when she was going from Manchester to London; all the characters come to her mind. And in the moment she came home she started to write the most famous book I ever read. But it was really hard to write it when her husband always said that she was wasting her time. So he broke up with her and left his only daughter with her mother. Because of this she considered the idea of the suicide.

But even with all these problems, she always writes, carrying her daughter to a lot of Coffees because she needed that for sleep.

In 1995 when she finished her first manuscript of Harry Potter 1, she send the first chapters to 12 editorials but they all rejected it until a small publishing house from London accepted it without a real fate on her talent, they only sign a contract that grants only the rights of the book for this editorial. And all the success of the movies, the merchandise and everything else has to go to her. Finally for me she demonstrated that even if everybody is against you, you have to show that if you want to everybody will be wrong.
