"Wishin'' all these dirty cops, would come clean
Still swervin' on these city blocks, for one thing
My man just copped a 30 shot, protect the team, know what I mean?
Music is a form of expression
I'ma use mine just to teach you a lesson"Joey Bad
Joey Bada$$ is a hero to me. Hip hop as a whole means a lot to me, and for him to stand up and express himself how he likes, and not changing his sound like every other rapper has. He grew up in Bed-Stuy, the same area as Biggie did. He is the co-founder of hip hop group Pro Era, along with Capital Steez. He began rapping in 2010, 2012 his critically acclaimed mixtape 1999 released. He uses his platform to send his message, to express himself and teach us a lesson.
His first solo mixtape really did its numbers, being critically acclaimed, and only being 17. How many 17 year olds were this high ranking in the music industry? He's bringing back that old school rap flow, everything we as listeners all miss. Many people may just think he's another rapper, he's far above any regular street rapper.
Despite his slightly vulgar name, he is a very humble person. His most recent album AABA (All American Badass) was made to bring up the social injustices promoting peace, and mental power. He quotes various rap legends such as Biggie and Nas. The east coast is home to some of the biggest names in the industry, only inspiration for anyone growing up there.
December 23, 2012 a tragic loss for Joey, Capital Steez would commit suicide. At just age 19, and Joey 17 it was really devastating to everyone around. He lost his best friend, the only person that Joey could follow, and lead joey into the right lifestyle. He would soon have to take that role as leader putting everyone's feelings before his. Almost a year later after recovering from this pain, his cousin Junior his tour manager, and the closest person to him Junior would pass away as well. Having to push forward and keep releasing music.
The number 47 was of importance to them, they represent the fourth chakra and the seventh chakra. The fourth chakra representing the heart, and the seventh chakra representing the mind. They made their "nazi" logo to attract more attention, as Steez said "People are going to be ignorant anyways". The Pro Era movement saw the world the way it was supposed to be see. Third eyes open.
