J. Stalin

"Jovan Smith, also known by his stage name J. Stalin, was born in 1987." Jovan grew up in the Cypress Village housing projects in West Oakland. J. Stalin was born into the poor of West Oakland and earned money as a child by selling candy bars. Around age 16, Stalin began recording and selling rap music to the locals in Oakland. "As a youth he sold drugs in his local housing projects..." and in front of the Cypress Village Store "and spent eleven months on parole for drug dealing." He references Joseph Stalin in his rapping name because they have the same initials. J. Stalin was brought into the rapping industry by E-40. after Smith made a name of himself.

J. Stalin is my hero because he went from being a huge drug dealer to a rapper. After Stalin became a rapper he started bringing other drug dealers up from the Oakland areas. Now they have all changed their ways and trying to make it better, that's all that counts.
