John Winthrop

John Winthrop is a hero. John Winthrop is a hero because he helped the Puritans break away from England so they could believe in their religion. John Winthrop's early years were hard. John Winthrop was born on January 22, 1588. He had a good education as a child. He was tutored at home by his private tutor, and then John Winthrop attended grammar school. When he turned 14, he was enrolled at Trinity College in Cambridge. Then, he got married at the age of 17. After that, he became a father just after his eighteenth birthday. He was always exposed to religions and had discussions between his father and clergyman, and this is how he came at an early age to have a deep understanding of divinity. Those are John Winthrop's early years.

John Winthrop had many problems in his life. One of John Winthrop's problems in New England was spending the first winter there in the New World, because the Puritans and John Winthrop showed up too late to grow crops so they did not have a lot of food and did not have a lot of supplies to build a lot of houses and people. Also the townspeople and John Winthrop did not have a lot of jobs at New England. Also they did not have a lot of medicine or clothes. Those were some of John Winthrop's problems in New England.

This is John Winthrop's greatest accomplishments. One of John Winthrop's greatest accomplishments was making New England for the Puritans so they could believe in the religion they wanted to believe in. John Winthrop's honors were being named Justice of the Peace of Suffolk, and he graduated from college because it was a time when most kids did not graduate from college or even go to college.

John Winthrop had many accomplishments. John Winthrop did many things for the community. He brought food for everyone for the first Thanksgiving at New England. He made every man take classes for the army once a year so if the Puritans got attacked by England they would know what to do and know how to defend their homeland. That is what John Winthrop did for the community.

John Winthrop's later years were bad. In his later years, he was too busy doing things for the Puritans he forgot about his estate. So a man started taking John Winthrop's money from him so John Winthrop eventually found out and brought the man to court and the man was found guilty so his ears got cut off but John Winthrop still lost a lot of money so the townspeople gave him some land for his estate to make up for his loss. That is why John Winthrop's later years were bad.

John Winthrop had many qualities. First, he was brave because he was not afraid to explore for new land for the Puritans so they could believe in the religion they wanted to believe in. Second, he was smart because he was elected Justice of the Peace of Suffolk. Third, he was very nice because when a man was taking money from John Winthrop and some of his land so the townspeople bought some land for him. Those are John Winthrop's qualities.

This is what a person or young child might learn about John Winthrop. One thing someone might learn from John Winthrop is to be active in your community. This is why I think John Winthrop is a hero.
