Joe Montana was born on June 11, 1956. He was born at New Eagle, Pennsylvania. The parents of Joe Montana are Joseph and Theresa Montana. He was an only child. His life was all about football and basketball, but his career in football has definitely shown in his work on the football field. During his high school days under center, he wore #13. Some people think he was one of the most gifted kids they'd ever seen. One of his friends, Adramski, told his friends that Joe Montana will be the next Namath or Hanratty. They laughed at him, but his comment was right and he is a legend in football. Joe did have some trouble with the coach of his high school team.

Joe Montana was drafted to the 49ers during the 1979 draft. He was picked during the 3rd round out of 7 rounds. Teams thought that he should've been a 6th or 7th rounder. Not in Bill Walsh's eyes. He believed in him that he would be a star in the future. Joe's first season as a niner wasn't a great one, but he had an okay season. During his time as a 49er and a Chief, he has completed 3,409 passes out of 5,391 (63%). He threw for an amazing 40,551 yards with 273 touchdowns and 139 interceptions (+134) He is 3rd all time in completion yards, 1st all time in rating, 1st in completion percentage, and 4th in TDs thrown. Before playing Cincinatti in the super bowl, the 49ers played Dallas. There was less than 1 minite on the clock, the 49ers were down 27-21. They had the ball on the 6 yard line, it was 3rd and 3, and their was only 58 seconds on the clock. The play was called " Sprint Right Option " and the ball was supposed to go to Freddie Solomon. Joe had the ball, but Freddie was completely covered, so they couldn't pass the ball to him. Joe threw the ball, but the ball seemed to go out of bounds because it was too high. But, Dwight Clark came in and surprisingly caught the ball to win the game with a touchdown.
