the influence of two men who shared my mother's thinking."

Could you imagine what guts you need to have to break the color boundary? I chose Jack Roosevelt Robinson in “Biography Today” because he changed the world and the world of sports forever. Jackie was athletic in almost every sport.

On January 31, 1919 in Cairo, Georgia Jackie was born. He was born to Jerry Robinson and Mallie (McGriff) Robinson. Jackie was the youngest of five children. Jackie would later marry Rachel Robinson for 26 years. They had three children, Jackie Jr. (who died in the 1971 auto accident), Sharon, and David.

Jackie joined a street gang that was well known for its involvement in shoplifting and vandalism, and before long Robinson was getting into trouble on a regular basis. Robinson attended Cleveland Elementary School and Washington Elementary School in Pasadena. He moved on to Washington Junior High School in 1931, four years later he enrolled at John Muir Technical High School. Robinson graduated from John Muir Technical High School in 1937 and immediately enrolled in Pasadena Junior College. Robinson moved on to the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) where he played basketball, football, track, and baseball.

Jackie was the first African American to play in Major League Baseball in the modern era. He played in the Major Leagues and Negro Leagues. He was also inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame. Jackie also played four sports at UCLA. He broke records in all four sports which were track, baseball, football, and basketball.

In 1972 the world was heartbroken when the baseball great Jackie Robinson passed away. He had 3 kids with wife Rachel. Jackie broke the color boundary. Jackie Roosevelt changed the world forever.
