Jackie Robinson, a major league baseball player, was born on January 31,1919 in Cairo,Georgia. He died October 24,1972 at age 53. He had a wife named Rachel Robinson.  His daughter was named Sharon and his two sons were named David and Jackie Robinson Jr.

In 1955 the Dodgers won the championship.  In 1947, Jackie Robinson won the Rookie of the Year Award. The jersey of Jackie Robinson was retired through the major leagues, the jersey was number 42.   Jackie Robinson played for major league baseball and was on the All Century Team.  He played football, track, and basketball and baseball in junior college and at UCLA.

He is my hero because he proved to people that anybody can be an American baseball player if they practice hard.  He showed the people that he could play baseball.  He is my hero because he is my favorite player and I love baseball.
