Jackie Robinson played sports, the most popular was baseball. While he studied at UCLA he joined track, football,basketball and of course baseball. Jackie was the youngest of 5 children. Jackie married Rachel Issum and had 3 children: Jackie Jr, David and Sharon. He was also in the military.

Extraordinary Circumstances
Jackie was the first African-American player in the Majors in the modern era. In spring training a teammate made a petition stating whoever signed didn't want to play with Jackie Robinson. Jackie also got the Brooklyn Dodgers manager suspended.
Obstacles
At the beginning of Jackie's career he got booed by fans from other teams, he also received many death threats. Jackie Robinson was not accepted. One of his teammates, Harold "Pee Wee" Reese helped the fans stop booing him and sending him death threats.
How He Prevailed
Jackie played from 1947-56 with the Brooklyn Dodgers. He was a 6 time N.L All-Star, 1949 N.L MVP. Jackie's number was 42 which was retired. He won the 1947 Rookie of the Year Award. He was inducted to the Hall Of Fame in 1962. He also led the N.L in stolen bases in 1947 and 1949.
