jaromir jagr (Sports.espn.go.com) |
The young Jaromir Jagr… had a cool childhood. Jagr was born February 15,1972 in Kladno, Czechoslovakia. One of Jaromir’s nicknames was Jags. His first time skating was with his father, Jaromir when he was three years old. He was a good skater, and his father encouraged him to play hockey. When he played at the Czech Winter Stadium, which his mother Anna took him to on the weekends, the figure skating coaches would try to sign him up. Jaromir played against older boys, and because of that he didn’t have many friends. His father also wanted to play pro, but a knee injury ended those dreams. It’s not like his family was poor, his parents just couldn’t always get him every thing he wanted. Jaromir has a small family. He only has one sister named Jitka, who is six years older than him. He also has a mother Anna and a father whose name is also Jaromir. As you can see, Jaromir Jagr has had early problems, a small family, and ups and downs in his childhood.
Jaromir has made contributions to the world and hockey. One contribution that he made is to hockey, which is inspiration. He inspires kids and young players. Another contribution is that players thrive to be like him. For example, I want to be like him, because he has a strong skating stride. He has a strong skating stride because he did dozens of knee bends everyday as a child. A third contribution that Jagr made is to the world. He changed the rule that you’re not allowed to live and play in a different country. In conclusion, Jaromir Jagr has inspired young players and kids.
Jaromir Jagr had problems through his life. The first problem was when he was a teenager. The problem was that he didn’t have any weights to lift, so his father made him some out of an old tractor axel. A second problem is when he was in the NHL (National Hockey League). He was suspended for bumping a referee during an argument. Another problem was also in the NHL. He was playing for the Pittsburgh Penguins at the time; he was having a 15-game slump, without Mario Lemieux. He didn’t score a single goal and had only one assist. As you can see, Jaromir has had problems, but they haven’t interfered with his career or life.
Jaromir Jagr has won many awards and here are three of them. The first award is he won two Stanley cups with the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Penguins won back-to-back cups in Jaromir’s first two seasons. He started to think winning Stanley cups was becoming a habit. A second award was he won the Art Ross Trophy in 1995/98/99/00/01. The Art Ross Trophy is awarded to the player who leads the league in scoring at the end of the regular season. A third award is actually a record that Jaromir set. He was the first Czechoslovakia-born player to win an NHL scoring title. Jaromir has won awards and set records throughout his career.
Jaromir Jagr has many admirable traits. The first is courage; Jagr lived with an American family in Pittsburgh. He had some problems living with Americans because they spoke English and his English was no good. It was hard for him to understand what they were saying. A second trait is he is caring. He is caring because he goes back and visits his family in the Czech Republic each summer. Over the years Czechoslovakia was split into to different countries, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. He also visits young cancer patients in Kladno, Czechoslovakia. A third trait is loyalty. Jaromir is loyal to his native country because he fought against the communists in Czechoslovakia. To wrap it up, one trait that Jaromir has is courage, another trait is loyalty, and the third trait is caring.
A lesson that I learned from Jaromir Jagr is that if you want something you have to work for it, and if you’re going to be a champion, it doesn’t just fall out of the sky. THE END
