My Dad Jason

Is the true meaning of a hero someone who saves people? To some people the answer would be yes, but I disagree with this. A hero is someone who is brave, caring and he doesn’t only think about himself. He is courageous, admired and loyal. A hero is a role model and a lifesaver. He can be anyone in the world, a family member, a friend, a neighbor or a celebrity. I think my dad, Jason, has the characteristics of a hero.

It isn’t easy to live without parents and this is what my dad went through. My dad lives in Montreal, Canada. He is the youngest of five children. At the age of eight my father’s dad passed away from a brain tumor. Two years later, his mother died from lung cancer. He then lived with his four siblings. They all took care of each other. At the age of thirteen, my father started working. With his money he bought food for himself and his siblings. A couple of weeks after his mother passed, the social workers came to him and his siblings. They told them that they wanted to split them all up and they would all be raised by different families. Jason, Michael, Dean, Sari and Teasa all replied, “No, you cannot split us up.” That is when they decided that they would all live together. Eventually, my father was the only one that went to school and started making a real living. They all followed my father’s decisions knowing that it was the right thing to do. Now, my father and all his siblings are extremely close. They are all married and have children, but most important, they are all successful in life.

My dad makes a big difference because he was able to live without parents. He pretty much took care of himself. Living without parents is the hardest and saddest part of life. Parents guide you and teach you to grow up to be the wonderful person you should grow up to be. My father didn’t have that. His older siblings were like his parents. My dad Jason is important to me because he helps me solve my problems. He cares for me. My dad always encourages and supports me. He is my role model because he lives his life in such a positive way. My dad is the nicest and best father in the whole world. That is why he is my hero.
