Jesus called Lazarus out (http://biblia.com) |
Just in front of Lazarus’ tomb, Jesus called Lazarus out. Like a man hearing that his name was called, Lazarus came out of the tomb in grave clothes. After that, Jesus asked the people there to let him go. Before getting to Lazarus’ tomb and raising him, Jesus had actually heard that Lazarus was sick. Meanwhile, Jesus did not directly come and see him. Instead, he stayed where he was for about two days. And just after that, he came to see Lazarus and his sisters, Mary and Martha. At the time of Jesus’ coming, Lazarus was already dead. That’s why Mary thought that it was too late. Jesus knew this and thus he told Mary, “If you believed, you would see the glory of God.”
One of Jesus’ missions coming on earth is to give us hope. Just like us, Mary lost her hope when Jesus finally came. She did not expect much when Jesus came. However, Jesus woke her up from her dismay. By raising Lazarus from death, Jesus was actually saying that by only believing, the miracle was actually real. By raising Lazarus from death, he not only raised his body from the tomb, but also raised hope and faith. He shared the idea that God is above all, all troubles, and all possibilities. Therefore, we should not give up our hope whatever the circumstances might be. Whenever the situation is getting harder, we might reflect on Martha. With only belief, we can say to God, “Yes, Lord, I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.”(John 11 : 27, -The Gideons-)

Jesus gives guarantee (http://academic.brooklyn.cuny.edu) |
Jesus’ saying is like giving a challenge. Even though it happened thousand of years ago, its echo is truly endless. It is not only a statement of consolation, but more than that; it is also a guarantee. Just imagine, the creator of the earth is giving a guarantee with only belief as a password. What’s more?
Things in life are often unpredictable. We could do no more than just doing our best to get through. However, as humans, our best sometimes is not as best as a solution must be. There are still times when we could not move on. We might wonder how to get this done. We might also be torn into two sides wondering where to go. If we take the wrong side, consequences are waiting. But if we take the right side, the road is also not easy.
While we were facing those things, the key lies on our heart. Just take the promise to walk with Jesus. One thing for sure, you are not walking alone. There is always a shoulder to cry on and a hand to lift you up. When you do this, just believe that the glory of God is just begun. Heaven’s windows will be opened. And both blessing and grace are yours, because God works when there is a room for faith.
