Michael Jordan

My hero is Michael Jordan. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on Feb. 17, 1963. He didn’t make varsity while was a sophomore in high school but kept trying and ended up at North Carolina University playing for their team. He entered the NBA draft in ‘84 and was the 3rd overall pick. He was very successful in his first year. He won Rookie of the Year and got a shoe endorsement.

Michael was also a nice family man off the court too. He worked with the Make –A –Wish foundation by going to see sickly children who wanted to see him. In ‘93 his father James R. Jordan was killed during a robbery . Later, Michael opened a Boys and Girls Club in his father's name with the help of the Bulls.

Jordan earned many nicknames for dominating the court and handling the rock . Probably the best known was Air Jordan. He played in other sports like baseball and golf. He will always be remembered for he great skills on the court and great personality off the court.
