Michael Jordan was born on February 17, 1963. He was born in Wilmington, North Carolina. He was the fourth of five children. When Michael Jordan was growing up, basketball was not his favorite sport. He also liked to play football. He was a star quarterback for his team. But, his favorite sport was baseball. I believe Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player of all time. Michael Jordan is strictly against drugs. Michael Jordan went to the University of North Carolina. Now Michael Jordan is living in Washington D.C.

One reason I think Michael Jordan is heroic is because he never gave up. He didn’t make his high school varsity team. But he never gave up. Michael then made it to the NBA with the third pick of the 1984 NBA Draft. In Michael’s second season he fell and broke some bones in his left foot. It sidelined him for 64 games. He missed most of the 1985-1986 season. While he was injured, Michael returned to the University of North Carolina to complete courses to get a degree in geography. But when he came back he helped the Bulls get in the playoffs. In the first round of the playoffs Michael averaged 43.7 points per game. In game 2 he had 63 points. Michael accomplished all that because he never gave up.

Another reason why I think Michael is a hero is because he helps the community in many ways. He opened a center for infants, toddlers, kids, teenagers, and adults. They can play basketball, do their homework, or do other activities. Some people just relax there. It’s just a safe place for anybody to be. Some kids might get kidnapped if they are walking home alone or if they’re home alone. Some kids will steal things or join gangs if they’re on their own. But if they’re in the center they have adults watching them and helping them with their homework. After they finish their homework they can have fun by playing basketball or other games with other kids of all ages. It’s a very fun place to be.
