In my eyes, Michael Jordan is the best basketball player ever. A lot of other people would agree with my conclusion. There are but a few people who have had such a great impact on basketball as Michael has. Jordan has always been known as the person you pass the ball to at the end of the game. He is the man I look up to the most out of any of the past or present players.

Michael achieved great things on the court. He went to the University of North Carolina in 1982 and played as a freshman. While he was just a freshman he hit a 15 footer to lock away the championship against Goergetown. That garnered him his first national attention. From then on, he was known simply as Air Jordan. In 1984 he left North Carolina to play with the Chicago Bulls.

He was the third pick of the first round of the draft. In 1985 he was named the rookie of the year. In 1991 Micheal won the first of his six NBA championships. The next year he went to Barcelona, Spain, to win the gold medal at the Olympics. During the summer, he returned to the UNC to get his bachelor of arts degree.

One of the most tragic times of Jordan's life happened in 1993. Michael's father was murdered, which led to Michael's first retirement. In 1996, Michael returned to basketball and won three straight championships. Jordan retired again and then returned one last time. He didn't play with the Bulls, though; instead he played with the Wizards. Besides the six NBA championships and the Olympic Gold Medal, he also won two slam-dunk championships, 11 scoring championships and fourteen various Most Valuable Player awards. He was a great player.

Other than his basketball skills, Michael also has great generosity. He helped many different people. In 1994 he started the James R. Jordan Boys and Girls Club. The center, in Chicago, was started in 1996 and was opened with a 5 million dollar donation by the Bulls and 2 million from Micheal Jordan, himself. Every week 1,000 people come to the club. He is a great man.
