Ever since my sophomore year of high school, I've been playing lacrosse. Even though I've only played lacrosse for two years, I really love the sport. Since lacrosse is one of the most underrated sports, it makes it unique and interesting since a lot of people don't know what it is. So for my hero I choose Kara Cannizzaro because she is one of the best /leading women's lacrosse player in the U.S. She is my inspiration and motivation to improve myself to become one step closer to achieving my dreams.
Kara Cannizzaro has been playing lacrosse through her high school years up until her senior year at University of North Carolina. She went to Cazenovia Central High School. Her records in high school for 4 years was 323 goals,129 assists, 376 ground balls, and 212 turnovers. In college her freshmen year she had 20 goals in one game, sophomore year she made 48 goals, junior year she made 52 goals, and on her senior year of college she made 61 goals, which is her personal best in one game. Kara won the award on March 12 after leading all players with four goals and five points in a win over Virginia. On March 26 after totaling eight goals and three assists in wins over Cornell and Boston College. On April 2, she won the award after scoring four goals, including the game-winner in overtime, at Duke and tallying four goals and an assist in a win at Virginia Tech.
Kara Cannizzaro is my hero because she plays the midfield position and I always wanted to play "middie". Middie is an important position because they are the ones who carries the team to victory. I personally play attack and sometimes defense and they are also important to the team but mostly the midfielders are the one making the most goals and the team really depends on them. It take dedication and skills to become a midfielder so that's why Kara is my inspiration/motivation to work harder to become a midfielder.
It's my second year playing lacrosse this year and we still haven't made a W yet and it's honestly disappointing. It's hard to have to deal with losing each and every single game. What makes it even more worse is that the people in the school look down upon us that we can't win but lots of people don't understand the real skill it takes when it comes to the littlest details such as cradling, running for a long period of time, having a bunch of girls on you and shove you multiple times. So because people don't know what it's really like to play real lacrosse, they think it's an easy win when there is more to that.
Kara Cannizzaro is an inspiration to many because she is a skilled and hard working person who makes no excuses to achieve her dream. She spends countless hours practicing on the field to make her become the person she is and as we can all see, it paid off. She is my inspiration because I know that in order to reach my goals, I can't slack off and procrastinate because that will get me nowhere if I'm not working hard. So she taught and opened my eyes that I can achieve my goal if i set my mind to it and one day when I'm working hard, it will pay off like how it did with Kara Cannizzaro.
