Kalpana Chawla

Personal Information( Birth date and Death date) :-) Kalpana Chawla was born on July1, 1961 in Karnal, Multan district of west Punjab, India. She died on Feb 1, 2003.

Family Life :-) Kalpana Chawla's parents came to Karnal from the Multan district of west Punjab after the partition. When her father Banarsi lai Chawla was leaving his hometown of sheikhopuria, communal riots broke out. He was only one member in family who managed to reach India safely but without any possessions. The family finally settled down in Karnal. When Kalpana Chawla was born her father still a petty businessman trying hard to support his growing joint family.

Education :-) She graduated from Tagore school Karnal India, in 1976, Bachelor of science degree in aeronautical Engineering college, India 1982 Master of science degree in aerospace engineering from University of taxes, 1986 aerospace engineering from university of Colorado, 1988. Her path to becoming an astronaut began in Karna, India. Kalpana Chawla loved to watch planes from the local flying clubs and from her father.

Accomplishments :-) The biggest accomplish that makes her memorable is she is the first woman who traveled to space and she did 88 Experiments in science and researched mission.

Qualities :-) She was brave because she was never afraid from to follow her dream and become a female Indian astronaut. What made her a person worth reading about is I like her so much and she is my hero because she is thoughtful and caring.

Experience :-) In early like she did bachelor of science degree in aeronautical engineering from Punjab engineering college. Her later life in 1993 Kalpana Chawla joined Overset method Inc. California, as vice president.

Find Interesting :-) I choose her because she is the first Indian woman who wanted to become an astronaut and she is from a poor family but still she worked hard and she become an astronaut.
