First, she talked to the world about something difficult and personal, a disease called cancer, in order to help people understand how to get screened and save lives. Secondly, she is always a giving person and she is mostly happy. Thirdly she is always being positive. Finally, Katie always takes her job seriously. She even once said "I've always tried to do a really good job every day, with each interview, and treat each interview seriously, and make the person I'm speaking with feel comfortable." That is why Katie is a heroine.
Katie was born on January 7th, 1957, Virginia with her brother John and two sisters, Emily and Clara. The schools Katie attended were Jamestown Elementary school, Williamsburg Junior High School, Arlington Yorktown High school, and University of Virginia College. While Katie was at the university, she worked for the newspaper. It was called "The Cavalier Daily" Katie was one of the editors. She also worked with writers, wrote papers, and edited the papers. In late 1997 she began studying English; she also took many classes in American history. Those classes helped Katie improve her knowledge of U.S. society and history.
Katie has two daughters Eleanor and Caroline and was married to John Monahan. Katie loved to read some of her favorite books are the "Little Prince" by Antoine de Saint Exupery and "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee. That is Katie's childhood, family life, education, and early problems.
Katie Couric had many challenges. One of her biggest changes was during January 1998 after a six month battle with colon cancer Jay Monahan died, because of Jay's death Katie talked to the world about colon cancer and how people who over the age of 50 you need a colonoscopy because if you do the doctors will know if you have any medical problems. Those are some of Katie's challenges, obstacles, and problems.
Katie is recognized for many things. Katie was one of the most popular news anchors in the United States. Katie has done a lot for her community and for others. For example, she used to report news to the world on the Today Show and because of Jay's (her husband's) death, she also donates money to find a cure for colon cancer. This is what Katie Couric has done for her community and what she has done for others. Katie is also an ambassador for the United Nations Children's fund (UNICEF). On behalf of the group, Katie visited Children in Zimbabwe in 1992. She often urges viewers to become involved in UNICEF programs. In1988 Katie won an Emmy Award, she also won an award from the associated Press. Since then Katie received five Emmy awards. In 2004, Katie was a presenter at the Glamour magazine Women of the Year awards. Two years later, she received one of these awards for her work with her EIF. A year later she became a member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Hall of Fame.
Katie Couric has many awards, honors, records set, and recognitions. Katie published a children's book "The Brand New Kid" which topped the New York Times children picture books best seller for three weeks. Katie also wrote "Blue Ribbon Day".
Katie Couric has many quality traits for example she is kind Katie is kind because she gives money to find a cure to cancer. Katie is also a good communicator. Katie shows that she is a good communicator because she is a news reporter. I think Katie is also leader because she is always giving, responsible, and trustworthy.
An important lesson I or anyone else would learn is to always be generous because if you are not always generous then you may be selfish. It is not good to be selfish and if you are selfish you may have a bad reputation.
