Kristen Dahlgren is a great person. She volunteers every time she can. Kristen also gets good grades while she volunteers. Kristen is from Burlington, Vermont , shes a senior in high school and has five other family members. But, for some odd reason, no one else in her family volunteers as much as she does. For this reason she is a hero.

The main group she volunteers for is Relay For Life  which sponsors a big fundraiser for cancer research. It's when all the teams, including cancer  patients, join together and walk all night. Kristen said, "It's challenging to stay awake and walk all night." Kristen enjoys walking, especially for a cause. She also has friends that have cancer  and thinks she might be able to help her potentially. She hopes maybe one day the researchers will find a cure and will be able to cure people that have cancer. The organization is national. The organization has been around for about twenty years. It got started from a person that got cancer.

Kristen is a team captain for Relay For Life and helps with various other fund raisers. An example of a fund raiser would be a bake sale, car wash and other sales. Kristen has been involved in Relay For Life  for about three years which shows great commitment. She usually works from the beginning of January to the end of June.

One thing that was frustrating for Kristen was when her team members didn't raise enough money. The team had to raise a hundred dollars per person. In each team there was about ten people. A thing that made her sad was seeing all the people that have cancer . Kristen said, " its amazing how much money we raise." When Kristen's older she says she will help fund raise again.
