Kristina Grothe

by David from Roxboro

My hero is my mom. She is a mother of six and still protects our country and county. My mom's name is Kristina Grothe. She served almost a year in Iraq. Then pretty much right when she got back to the states she went to school to become a Roxboro Police Officer.

My mom is my hero because she showed me that we need to protect our country in any way, shape or form. My mom was born in Buffalo New York. She was a straight A student almost all of her life. She showed me that I should never give up and pursue my dreams.

When she was 26 she joined the Navy. She said "She wanted to do something with her life" so she went into the Navy. About three years later she got orders saying that she must go to Iraq. So she went to training for a while and then was on her way to Iraq to become a prison guard. It was really hard for her to leave because she would be away from her family. After about a year of being in Iraq she came home.

About a month after being home she decided that she wanted to be a Police Officer. She figured she didn't want all that training to go to waste. So she started talking to people that are in the Police force. Not too long after that she was going to school to become a Police Officer. She went to the school (BLET) for a long 20 weeks studying and working out. My mom never gave up, she stayed focused and graduated almost at the top of her class.

Now she is going through a police officer safety/survival class so that she can protect herself and the team she works with. She will soon be catching criminals all around Roxboro. She will be a great cop because she has all the right requirements to be a police officer. This is why my mom is my hero. She never gave up, and always fought for what she wants and what is right for her and her family.
