Kathy Nicol

My mom is a hero to me because, she is there for me when i need her. She helps me when I'm not up to talking to anyone. My mom is special to me because she is the kind of person everyone wants to be with and she helps everyone with anything.

My mom is a very loving person and is easy to get along with. My mom has severe asthma and almost died three years ago. She is in the hospital almost three times a year and it slows me down in school because i have to take care of my little sisters and, believe it or not, my dad!! My dad can't cook for his life so when my mom is ill we always have take out.

I wish my mom could be more healthy because, she can't do much stuff because of asthma so she is inside most of the time. But the last few summers we have been going to Washington to visit my aunt in Renton. Ever since we have been doing that she has been doing better about feeling good outside and taking walks without her inhaler. If my mom doesn't have her inhaler with her she is most likely to have an asthma attack.

When my mom has asthma attacks it is really scary because one time she had one and no one was home. My sisters and i were at friends' houses and my dad was heading out of town for work. Before my dad left he stopped home to grab something and saw my mom and her face was turning blue and that was when she almost died.

If you have asthma you know it is difficult to breathe so when you are sick with asthma you never want to be home alone because it may turn into something bad. That is a little about my hero, Kathy Nicol, my mom.
