Kate Spade

Kate Spade is an inspiration to all people who love fashion. She worked so hard to fulfill her dreams as a fashion designer. For those people that are interested in fashion, they will learn how Kate Spade made it to the top. Also, Kate teaches people every day, who want to become this kind of artist that it is not always easy to fulfill your dreams and you need to work hard in school and pay attention.

Kate had a very easy childhood. My hero is Katherine Noel Brosnahan. The future Kate Spade was born in 1962, in Kansas City, Missouri. She was the fifth of six children (5 girls and 1 boy). She was part of an Irish Catholic Family. Kate's mother was a full-time homemaker and her father was in construction, building bridges and roads. All of Kate's sisters graduated from St. Teresa's, an academically challenging all-girls school. After graduating from St. Teresa's, Kate enrolled at the University of Kansas. Later she transferred to Arizona State University so she could enroll herself in Journalism. When Kate was little she was not allowed to cuss. Even now as a grown woman she is not allowed to cuss around her mom or dad. After Kate passed Arizona State University, she started working at Mademoiselle Magazine making only $14,500 a year. Kate was very into vintage clothes and bright neon colors back in her teenage and childhood years. Even now in 2011 Kate still loves the old vintage clothing.

Kate married an incredible man which helped her make a Multi- Million Dollar business. Kate married Andy Spade and soon became Kate Spade. Kate started making her own bags, and the label soon became Kate Spade. Her husband and she went to many sewing workshops to learn how to sew. Soon Kate started selling her bags all over New York City and Chinatown. Kate had very nice handbags and was selling them for a reasonable price. In the late 90s Kate was selling her bags from $50 to $100 dollars each, which was pretty reasonable for designer bags in New York City. When Kate and Andy's business started booming, Kate hired some of her friends, which, they worked for free. After Kate started ranking in millions she donated lots of money to charity which they appreciated very much. Now in 2011 Kate Spade handbags are from $200 to $600 dollars. They are more expensive now then back when she began designing. After almost 6 or 7 years of working on her fashion business Kate was known all over the world. Her business pulled in $125 million dollars in 2007 and she hit the top charts. Kate soon had a multi-million dollar business called Kate Spade. Soon after, Kate and Andy's business hit $125 million dollars, Kate and Andy opened up their 32nd store. Kate started to design more and more things. She started designing shoes, clothes, accessories and eye wear. Kate then sold part of her business to one of the best known stores Neiman Marcus for $33.5 million dollars. As you can see, Kate's life wasn't always easy. She had to work harder and harder over the years

Kate faced many challenges before marrying her husband. Before Kate got married to Andy and started a business she came to New York with only seven dollars. That is because she had just come back from traveling all of Europe. Kate started working at a diner with her friend, but then moved to Mademoiselle Magazine. At first, when Kate got married to Andy Spade and decided to start her own fashion business, Kate had no idea how to sew, so she and Andy went to sewing classes. Kate went to a fashion warehouse were you bought a space and when someone wanted something of yours they would order it. So when Kate got there and was done setting up her station someone put in an order of 200 bags to sell in their store. Seeing that Kate and Andy only had a couple of bags sewn, Kate got worried. She and Andy would have to put together over 100 bags in just 2 months. Kate stayed up night after night sewing the bags until she was done 3 weeks before they were due. Then, there was a problem. Kate was thinking about quitting her business Kate Spade because Kate and Andy weren't making enough money to pay for a living. Kate Spade didn't always have a lot of money so that was why she had to work harder and harder over the years.

Kate won many awards. Kate won a Perry Ellis Award for best accessory design. Kate's bags were also featured in People Magazine for being so beautiful. Next, Kate was featured in Vogue Fashion Magazine for the best handbags of the year. The most exciting honor that Kate won was her bags were selected for an exhibit in Cooper Hewitt-Design Museum. The last award that Kate won was she was named "Women of the year" in 2002 by Glamor Magazine. Kate has won many awards in her life.

Kate Spade has many qualities that helped her be successful in life. Kate was determined to make a multi-million dollar business to fulfill her dreams. Kate Spade was also determined to make it to the top in the fashion world which did come true. Kate was a very successful woman because in 2007 her business hit a $125 million dollar company. Kate sold millions of dollars in bags, shoes, accessories and makeup in 2005.

Kate was a very hard-working person who would stay up for days working on her bags and sewing the fabric. Part of what helped Kate succeed her career is that she never gave up on something she wanted to succeed on and she worked harder than a lot of people to help her career get to the top.

The lesson I learned from Kate is that to never, ever give up on your dreams and even if your dreams are hard to fulfill, then work your hardest at succeeding. That's what I learned from reading the book "Profiles of Fashion: Kate Spade.

In conclusion, Kate Spade worked extremely hard to overcome her obstacles in what is now one of the best fashion business's in the world. Kate worked really hard and if you work hard you can make your dreams come true also. But, just remember that you have to do well in school and you have to listen and pay attention.
