Ken Block

A hero is a person who is admired for his achievements. In my opinion, a hero is someone you idolize. He is someone who changes your life and makes you want to follow his examples. My hero, Ken Block, is a professional rally car racer. He is one of the best rally car racers in the world.

Block was born on November 21, 1967, in Long Beach, California. Block graduated from Orange Glen High School in Escondido, California in 1986. Ken Block is currently a professional rally driver with the Monster world rally team. "Ken Block has also competed in many action sports events including: Skateboarding, snowboarding, and Motocross." In 2005, Block began his national rallying career with the Vermont Sports-Car team. He drove a 2005 Subaru WRX STi. His first rallying season was a snow drift, and he ended up finishing 7th overall and fifth in the "Group 5" class. During 2005, Block had five top finishes and placed third overall in the "Group N" class and fourth overall in the Rally America National Championship. By the end of Blocks first year, he had won the "Rally America" Rookie of the Year award. (Ken Block: Career)

In 2006, Ken Block, along with his rally team with Travis Pastrana, signed a new sponsorship deal with Subaru. He completed his first ever X-Games rally event at X-Games 3. In February 2010, Block won the rally in the 100 Acre Wood "Rally America" for the fifth time. He broke the record for that track. Ken is currently being trained by former Ford Factory driver Markko Martin at the Spain rally. He won his first two points in World Rally Championship. In 2011 Block and his co-driver Alex Gelsomino were taken to the hospital, having rolled their car during the Shakedown stage of the 2011 Rally de Portugal in Faro, Portugal. Both men were not hurt.

I chose Ken Block because he is my favorite rally car driver. He is one of the best rally car drivers of all time. Block will continue to make and break records while he keeps driving.
