Kobe Bryant, guard for the Los Angeles Lakers, is one of the best players in todays game. Winning three N.B.A. titles, making 10 all star game appearances, and winning an Olympic gold medal, he is my hero.

Kobe Bryant grew up eating, sleeping, and breathing basketball. A year after he was born, his dad �Jellybean Joe,� was traded to the San Diego Clippers. Growing up on the west coast, Kobe's favorite team became the Los Angeles Lakers. His favorite player was Magic Johnson because he liked his flashy style and winning ways. In the summer of 1982, Kobe and his family moved to Houston, Pennsylvania. He attended high school, at Lower Merion High. During his junior year, he averaged 31.1 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 5.2 assists, and was named Pennsylvania player of the year.

Not only was he good on the court, but he showed excellence on his SAT scores as well. His junior and senior year, college recruiters came knocking. Although very interested, he was really considering going pro. In the 1996 N.B.A. draft, he was chosen as the 13th overall pick by the Charlotte Hornets. He was later traded to the Los Angeles Lakers for Vlade Divac. While playing for the Lakers, Kobe has won three consecutive N.B.A. titles in 2000, 2001, and 2002, (And 2009) and has made ten all star game appearances. He has achieved great things and has broken many records including the second most points scored in a game making 81 points.

Kobe has inspired me with his incredible defense and his stunning ways to score and control the game. I also like that he is sponsored by Nike and has his own shoes. He also plays for my favorite basketball team the Los Angeles Lakers. He also won an Olympic gold medal in the 2008 Olympics. I wish to be a N.B.A. superstar and someday be as great as him.
