| Helen Keller |
Helen Keller is a great person because she inspired a lot of people. She is a hero because she is strong spirited, she is a role model, and she is a great writer. She was also blind and deaf.
| Helen as a young girl |
Helen Keller had some problems in her life which made her strong spirited. When Helen Keller was 18 months old, she became awfully ill. After she became better, Helen could not see or hear. Because of this, Helen became ferocious and, because of her actions, Helen’s parents took her to a teacher who could calm her down and teach her to learn how to read and write. I think Helen is strong spirited because she was blind and deaf. She took her time to learn how to write and read. It was harder for her to learn because she couldn’t hear or see. Helen wanted to be like everyone else and she wouldn’t give up, that’s why I think Helen Keller is strong spirited.
Helen Keller is also a hero because she is a role model. I think she is a role model because if people are blind or deaf they could look up to her and say, “Wow, that lady was blind and deaf but she still had a succesful life.” Helen Keller wrote a book on her life so people could see how dreadful and exciting her life was. Also other people could read the book, and if there were advice, people might be able to listen and accept it and possibly change their lives.

Helen Keller is also a hero because she is a great writer. Helen shows that, even though you are disabled, you don’t have to give up on life. By being a great writer she showed people that disabled people can do great things also. Her teacher, Anne Sullivan, helped Helen a lot with writing. Helen wrote great books. One of her books is "The Story of My Life." If Helen had not written that book people wouldn’t know that much about Helen Keller.
I think Helen Keller is a stupendous person because she was blind and deaf but an intellingent person who went to college, wrote great books, and helped other disabled people. She is a hero, not just to me, but maybe to hundreds of other people in the world.
