Coach Graves
Coach Graves

My hero is Coach Kevin Graves. He is my P.E. coach at Greensboro Day School and is the greatest. He is everybody’s friend. He is very funny, athletic, and can do all different types of voices.

My favorite thing about Coach Graves is how he teaches. He doesn’t start yelling unless you’re across the room or you don’t hear him talking. When the class is not doing what they're supposed to, he’ll wait until we figure out it's P.E. and not social hour. Finally someone will ask why we were not doing anything. After about ten minutes we will stop talking and sit down in a line until he says something.

If were doing something wrong he might give us a lecture or tell us a saying about fairness. One of the sayings is: “Hard but fair, sad but true, sometimes you get the bear, sometimes the bear gets you.”

Some people think that all coaches are either mean or just make you run the whole period. Coach Graves is nowhere close to that. To me he doesn’t seem or act like the guy who uses violence, and says, “Either be quiet or run the rest of the class!” And that is why he is my hero!
