My hero is Coach Graves. He is our P.E teacher at Greensboro Day School. He lives in Greensboro, N.C. He is so cool and funny, he makes us laugh and he teaches us lessons. He’s also really fair and gets us ready for Middle School. He teaches us basics of sports and just overall how to play them correctly. We always have fun in his class.
Coach Graves makes us smile and laugh and say, “wow,” to the things he does. He’s the best break dancer in our school, sometimes he teaches us moves. He always says, “Do you guys think I’m kidding……..well I am!!” He makes really funny jokes and acts like a kid sometimes. He’s a really unique teacher and we all like him.
If we act up then he just says, “We’re going to sit here the for the whole class period until you stop talking.” I think that’s really fair, because he doesn’t make us run laps when we act up. Our class is in the fifth grade and about to go to Middle School. Coach Graves tells us about the lessons he will give us next year and, listening to him, he says he’ll be a little harder next year. We don’t care because we know he’ll always be the same person.
One of the most important things is his life lessons. The one I will always remember is, “Hard but fair, sad but true, sometimes you get the bear, sometimes the bear gets you.” I think that is really important in life. He also has a lesson that is really long and must have been hard to memorize. Right now we are playing field hockey and he’s teaching us how to shoot and all of that and then we play a big game. It’s awesome.
Coach Graves is one of the best teachers I’ve ever had and he will remain that.
