Kid Frost |
My hero's name is Kid Frost. I believe that a person has become a so called "hero" when they do something that impacts one another. Someday I want to become a hero too. I want others to look up at me and and say, "Why can't I be like her" when they really can. That to me is a true hero. Only if I could see in the future to find out what kind of hero I will be.

My hero is Kid Frost. He is the so called "OG godfather of Chicano rap." He was born in East Los Angeles, not too far from where I'm from. Like him I grew up in the scummy streets of Los Angeles. Stressful and tough living near the streets, but I'm living and loving it just like he did. He had a song that broke him to a wide audience of "die hard" Chicano hip-hop fans. The name of his song was...."La Raza". In English this means the people. This song represents how people use stereotypes on Latinos and how most people don't know the difference between Chicano and Mexican. Nowadays seventy-five percent of Latinos are white-washed. This means that they don't know their history and don't care about their pride.

Kid Frost impacts my life because he wants to spread around the Mexican culture in a new style. There it was, Chicano hip-hop was born. If I were to just blur out the bad language to his music I would hear the story behind his lyrics. I wish people would stop verbal bullying. It kills me to hear people saying, "Go back to work at Taco Bell." They don't know how hurtful or how annoying it is.

I picked Kid Frost because he is influential in a way to stop stereotypes and spread Chicano culture. He wants people to know Latinos for being lawyers and doctors; not working at McDonald's their whole lives. He thinks of his fans as his kids and he is the father of Chicano hip-hop. So in that way he expresses his anger or joyfulness in his songs. Remember....."La Raza!"
