Krys Waszkiewicz

by Mark from Dearborn

Krys Waszkiewicz By Mark Waszkiewicz Most kids say that their father is the greatest but I can say that and mean it. Krys is currently a project manager at General Motors here in Dearborn, Michigan. Krys is the best father and teacher to me because he went to Laurence Tec, is knowledgeable about sports, and is a great worker.

Krys went to Laurence Tec in the late 1980's to become an electrical engineer. He had patience and determination to achieve his goal and this is what I admire most about him. To become an engineer he had to become good at Math. Though he struggled at first, he later became rather good at it. His most admirable gift was his confidence. He believed he could do anything and with that he did.

In the off-season in 1987 Krys purchased season tickets for the Detroit Lions at the Pontiac Silver Dome. At that time the Lions were very bad coming off a four and eleven season yet, he had a certain feeling that he should get tickets. The next decade the Lions became a winning team and my dad experienced it first-hand. From the 1991 home play-off game to the 1997 New York Jets game. To this day he can tell you how many yards Barry Sanders got in 1997, to why the Lions went zero and sixteen in 2008.

When his aunt died in 2000 she left her house in Wixom, Michigan to him. At this point the house had been rented out to some bad renters who did some damage to the house. Being my dad and his degree in electrical engineering, He took it on himself to fix the house. Now this was not an easy task. There was a hole in one wall, some rooms needed paint, and a porch light needed to be installed. Through the years of coming on weekends, holidays, and vacations, he came to work on the house. Though he came on his time off to work he found it more as a hobby rather than work. In 2010 he finished the house and sold it. This took him almost ten years to do and took great deal of time and work but he finished it.

After all these events he has become quite knowledgeable on electrical engineering to the Lions to even building a house. Krys was there when I needed a hand. If it were not for him I would not be here. So you should take time to appreciate your family in your life.
