Laura Secord was born on September 13, 1775 in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. She went to school in Great Barrington. She had a brother named Charles, her father's name was Thomas Ingersoll and her mother's name was Elizabeth Dewey. She got married to a man named James Secord and they had seven children. Laura had one son and six daughters. She liked to sew.

In June 1813, Laura's family was forced to look after American soldiers. She overheard plans that the Americans were going to attack the British soldiers so they could have control of Niagara. Laura Secord faced challenges because when she was going to save the British she could not go on the main roads because she was afraid the Americans would kill her. Then she walked 32km in daytime to tell the British. Her hero was her husband James Secord because he was helping in the revolution to make peace. Her inspiration was all the soldiers in the revolution because they were fighting for the country and loyalty and they were fighting for freedom.

She changed the world because if it were not for her, more then one-hundred soldiers would have been killed. She made the world a better place by saving other's lives and teaching others to help others. If it were not for her the British would have died.

When Laura got home she had seven children. She and her husband loved them very much. The family was happy and now everyone knows her story. Her friends and family passed on her story and now a lot of kids know the story about Laura Secord.

Laura reminds me of my friends. They help me when I am in big trouble. She has inspired me to be kind to others and to help others when they are down. Some things I don't know about her but the things I do know are great. We might not be Canada right now if it were not for her.
