Many people probably don’t think of actors as heroes. But I personally think Leonardo Dicaprio is a hero or icon because he has done many great things. He has many characteristics that are admirable. Leonardo Dicaprio is a great role model for people like me.

Leonardo Dicaprio is also a very giving person. This characteristic is evident by his support of victims of recent catastrophes in our world. He supported the people of the 2004 tsunami in Thailand. He also gave thousands of dollars to the relief efforts in Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina. These are just two examples of his generosity.

Although Leonardo Dicaprio is known by most, he is not always considered a hero. After considering his dedication to being physically fit, his ability to inspire others through his acting and his charitable giving, I feel he makes a great role model. Many famous actors who have had as much success as Decaprio don’t take time to give back to others. Dicaprio should be commended for his caring and giving personality.

Leonardo Dicaprio is physically fit. He stands 6 feet tall and is a lean 140 pounds. He was on the fit list after filming the movie The Departed. Dicaprio was dedicated to becoming as fit as possible and did strength training everyday. I admire his dedication to becoming so fit with such a busy schedule.

Dicaprio is also an inspirational actor. He has played in many roles that I can relate to emotionally. For example, in the 1996 version of William Shakespeare’s story of Romeo and Juliet, Dicaprio modernized the character of Romeo. At the beginning of the movie, when Romeo’s proposal was turned down, I could relate to the feelings of rejection that he was dealing with. I admire the way he acted the part.
